Commitment to Accessibility

Experience Gaelic Games is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability, technology, or environment. We strive to ensure our site meets high standards of accessibility and usability for all users.

Accessibility Standards

This website complies with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
In addition, we have tested the site following the Trusted Tester Process v5.1.3 and the All Baseline Tests for Web, which provide thorough methods for evaluating accessibility based on technical standards and user experience.

What We’ve Done

We have taken a range of steps to ensure our content is accessible:

  • Semantic HTML is used to support assistive technologies such as screen readers.

  • All images and non-text content include meaningful alternative text.

  • All interactive elements (buttons, links, and form inputs) are operable using keyboard navigation alone.

  • Headings are used in a clear, logical order to support easy navigation.

  • Form fields are labeled clearly, with helpful instructions and visible error messages.

  • No flashing content is used that could cause seizures or discomfort.

  • We carry out ongoing manual and automated testing to monitor and improve accessibility.

Non-accessible Content

The content listed below is not fully accessible for the following reasons.

Auto-rotating carousels

Some sections of the site use auto-rotating carousels that:

  • Move automatically without user interaction

  • Cannot currently be fully controlled (paused or stopped) using the keyboard alone

Because of this, these carousels do not fully meet WCAG 2.2 guidance on moving content and may make it harder for some users to read information at their own pace. We aim to improve the level of control over this moving content in future updates.

UNESCO video

The UNESCO page includes a video that:

  • Does not currently have captions

  • Does not provide audio description or an equivalent descriptive transcript

As a result, Deaf and hard-of-hearing users may not have equal access to the audio content, and blind or partially sighted users may miss important visual information. We plan to improve the accessibility of this video in future updates where feasible.
