A Gaelic Gathering for the Poc Fada for 2013!

We’re delighted to announce the launch of a very special Gaelic gathering in a very special place close to our hearts.

We’re inviting you to come and join us right back where it all began for mythical stories of Hurling.

In August 2013 we’re going to retrace the footsteps of the legendary warrior, Setanta, who treked with Hurl and sliothar, from the plains of Muirtheimthe across the Cooley Mountains to Eamain Mhaca to join the royal guard of Ulster.

The famous warrior was  subsequently renamed Cú Chulainn and went on to defend Ulster in the well documented celtic epic of “The Cattle Raid of Cooley”

On the 3rd of August we’ll be retracing young Setanta’s route but we’ll not  be alone. We’ll be joining some of the best hurlers in world as they cover  a beautifully scenic 5Km mountain course. While we’ll be walking and enjoying the stunning beauty of the historic Cooley Mountains the competitors will be attempting to make it across the mountain in the lowest amount of pócs of the Sliothar.

The prize on offer is the cherished title of All Ireland Póc Fada champion. This is an amazing and totally unique  Gaelic experience not to be missed.

On the weekend we’ll be attending the Póc Fada finals by day but we also intend to party by night on the wonderfully vibrant Cooley pensinsula.

It’ll be a superb weekend with a host of special activities and all less than an hour from Dublin airport.

Clear the diary and book the flights – We look forward to releasing further details soon.
